Answers to frequently asked questions: Q. Is the item shown in the listing the one I will receive? YES! We never use 'stock' photos to represent our items for sale What you see is exactly what you get. Q. Do you provide a 'COA'? We provide you with a signed receipt and signed COA which lists the details of your purchase(es) which also details our lifetime authentication guarantee! Please see our note about COA's further down this page. Q. Are your items authentic? How do I know? Very good question! Every item we sell is hand signed. No preprints, autopens, stamped signatures and etc. We have been in this business for a long time and as a result we know where and how to obtain authentic memorabilia. Most of our items are obtained in-person right on the 'street' in LA and NY by our staff. That is what separates us from the other sellers who have no idea what they are doing and buy from other eBay sellers or request autographs via the mail. The rest of our items come from vintage authentic collections we buy and trades we make with one other very highly respected UACC dealer. Q. What forms of payment to you accept? World of Autographs is committed to bringing you the best quality authentic autographs. You can purchase with confidence knowing that we have your best interests in mind We sell authentic signed items. Period. We do issue COA's but as not to prove that an item is authentic. Per UACC guidelines, we also issue a hand signed receipt with all the details of your purchase including our guarantee of authenticity. Quote From the UACC FAQ:
We hope you understand that the issuance of a COA does not make an autograph legitimate on its own: something that many forgers would like you to believe. What counts is the credibility of the dealer. We follow the UACC guidelines and issue signed and dated receipts with every item as your “COA.” There are a few exceptions to this rule- JSA, GAI and PSA/DNA COA's' provide proof that the item is 'most likely genuine'. They have thoroughly examined the item and compared it to their in-person database thereby weeding out most bad stuff. We know the authenticators make mistakes but we understand that you more likely to trust, a dealer that sells 3rd party authenticated items over one who does not. We NEVER use the authenticators to determine if an item is legitimate. We simply submit many our in-person obtained autographs to them in order to provide a higher level of confidence to our customers. You will also notice some autographs are not 3rd party authenticated. The cost of authentication is high thus, lower value autographs will rarely be 3rd party certified. However they are still 100% authentic and we are always happy to help you submit any non-certified items to GA at your expense if you would like them to be certified.
Important Note About Authenticators I wanted to write a quick note about the use of 3rd party authenticators. We try to make it very clear that we NEVER use 3rd party authenticators to determine authenticity. Everything we obtain is obtained in-person (on a rare occasion we buy a vintage collection) and we know what authentic autographs look like. We started using the 3rd party authenticators at the suggestion of eBay's Trust and Safety department to bring more trust to our items on eBay. They are fully aware of how much bad material is for sale and they do try to be very helpful to their sellers. Many autograph sellers and collectors have opinions about the 3rd party authenticators. Many dislike one authenticator but like another, hate them all or simply have no opinion. I have never found any two collectors/dealers with the same opinion on any 3rd party authenticator. However, I have noticed that the sellers who complain the most abut the authenticators are most often the ones who sell bad autographs. Some of these sellers go into rants in their auctions trying to convince the buyers that any authenticated item is a forgery. If they would just sell authentic autographs they could simply enjoy the collecting world and have no reason to rant. We have seen all kinds of stupidity among the main authenticators (GAI, GA, JSA & PSA, Online Authentics, PAAS, GTA, ACE). They also do not play well with each other and will fail each others stuff. There are always rumors about them all and web sites dedicated to exposing what people think are mistakes made by each 3rd party authenticator. I think this will be the norm forever. They do make mistakes but overall they do a lot of good for the hobby. It is our opinion that by having many of our high-end items certified we provide a simple service to those shoppers and collectors who are unwilling or unable to learn about what an authentic autograph looks like. It allows us to differentiate ourselves from all the bad autographs which are traded daily on many web sites including eBay. Please remember that we already know everything we sell is authentic and the 3rd party authentication is done just for you, our customer. We fully understand that many of our customers simply do not have the time or resources to learn about every autograph they want to collect. We never use PAAS (not eBay approved), GTA (not eBay approved) ACE (banned from eBay), OE (Online Authentics- not eBay approved) or Christopher Morales (banned from eBay). We have also discontinued the use of JSA. We recently moved to using Global Authentics (GA) almost 100%. They are the only authenticator who actually cares about customer service, completes our orders in a timely fashion, ships the items safely back to us and is VERY picky about autograph authenticity. We are considering using PSA (the next time they are in town we will try them) and, unfortunately, JSA ruined a huge order of ours when they just tossed everything loosely in a box and everything got destroyed in transit (its not like we can just go out and magically replace the destroyed autographs).
We are your AUTHENTIC autograph source.
