Found a set of three Swiss hankies in a box of doilies that I  bought at an estate auction.  Each is slightly different, so I am listing them separately.  Please look at all three, they will knock your socks off because of the extremely fine embroidery, drawnwork and eyelet needlework.  Very well done, it appears to be handwork via magnification, but sometimes machinery can do a miracles.  But to me the slight uneven stitching looks like handwork.  Only one of these hankies has a papertag, the rose.  Tag reads: All cotton Made in Switzerland.

This hankie has a rose in one corner surrounded with embroidered daisies and with eyelet ferns framing the corner.  Extremely fine work, this is only an 11x11" hankie, the rose measures only 2", and the daisies are 1/3"!!  Eyelets are 10 to the inch so it is very finely done.  The darker cream embroidery thread really makes the design pop.

Beautiful bridal  finely woven hankie in beautiful soft cream hankie maybe from the 1940s or 1950s?  Extremely sheer cotton material too.  Can't even guess what the thread count is!

Design: one corner is decorated with approximately 8" of fern embroidery, eyelets represent the ferns, and tiny lines the stems.  Next, nestled between ferns and rose is a section of scattered daisies, very tiny and delicate, 1/3" each with a few leaves and stems too.  Rose is 2" across, with different drawnwork pattern on each petal, some tiny tiny checks, lattice, and one with diagonal bands.

This would be a very pretty gift for someone special.  Bride or bride's maids, daughter or sister.  Even a beautiful gift for you.  Since there are three similiar hankies, snatching all three up would eliminate three future gifts, or really reward you!

Condition: very good for its age.  Looks unused. No rips, tears or smudges.
