Found several cases of knitting and crochet booklets and magazines at a linen auction at an artist's studio on Sunday.  

Excellent knitting magazine "Smart Knitting" that appears to have been published twice a year.  This one is marked 3rd edition, and listed as a Winter 1948 edition, although the copyright reads 1947.  

Magazine has 73 pages just packed with projects for the whole family.  There are baby layette patterns, kid's sweaters jumpers, men's sweaters, but the best part is the women's high fashion.  Lots of women's knitted dresses, sweaters, jumpers, skirts, jackets and accessories.  Seems to be a women's knitting magazine with patterns for a few other groups tossed in for balance.

Beautiful colored and black and white photographs.  Some very nice advertising, full page, in color for various needlework products, yarn, weavers, knitting machines etc.

I was surprised to see two copies of this magazine in the cases.  One looks near perfect, one has a few issues but mostly some pencil marks that are easily removed and a little tear.  

Includes 70 projects including women's fashions, babies, tennage, men's wear, children, bags, household ideas, needlecraft and gifts.

Photos and advertising is beautiful.  If you need some colored advertising to frame, this is your magazine.
 

Condition:  very good for its age, 60+ years.  Pages discolored with age. Some pencil notes on back pages.  Some slight folding to the corners, smudging to covers especially back cover.  But still good for framing.  One of the inner pages has a 1" tear.  Still in beautiful condition for its age.
