I am beginning to list the contents of an estate that dates back well into the 1870s and reflects all the beautiful needlework of that era. All will be listed with a GP in title, so will be easily searchable.
Estate reflects several sets of grandmothers and great grandmothers and we will furnish the names after purchase so that credit can be given for the makers and owners of these beautiful Victorian items. I want to get the items on fairly quickly, (many monogramed linens here) so will identify owners later.
Estate is fantastic. Many items I have never seen before, much less offered for sale in my linen store. More items than we can count right now.
Estate includes handmade lace handkerchiefs, collars (many), doilies, edging, runners, trims from dresses/blouses, and shams (many). Embroidered bags, doilies, tableclothes and napkins, many early damask. Victorian calf leather gloves, storage bags, handbags and more. Many items handmade, many items from France, Ireland, Germany, and more.
Background: this family immigrated from Germany to US in the late 1930s just prior to World War II and brought their complete household with them. Both were physicians. Both brought family items that date back to 1870s and in beautiful condition despite the age. Only a very few items can be classified as "cutters", meaning items that can be used for crafts, framing, or whatever you please. I know many of you ladies love the old laces so I plan to list even the less than perfect items just for you.
Most of these items are handmade, and I sure brushed up on my lace education so that I can give you correct information. To let you know the quality here, some of the clothing items are going to a speciality auction next year!
I will add information as I get it on all items, and again will furnish the names of the original owners as well.

Nice change of pace with some beautiful hankies that are printed. One on linen and several on silk. These will be listed separately.
Pretty linen hankie, 12x12", nice size, the solid green center, white printed scallops in two borders, and even a satin stitched edging forming one of those rows of scallops.
Measurements: 12 x 12"
Colors: bright Irish shamrock green and whtie.
Fiber: linen, cool to the touch, finely woven.
Pattern: solid block of color in center with scallops printed on edge of the block. Two printed green and white borders with scallops. Edge is satin stitched with scallops.
Age: I am no expert, I am guessing somewhere between 1920s through 1950s. This style of hankie was in style for a long time, with no tags or labels it is impossible to pinpoint the exact age of the hankie.
Condition: very good for its age. Despite being stored for a long long time, it is gorgeous and spotless. Looks unused with no smudging or storage marking. Only fault is a fault in the weaving of the linen. All linen has slubs, areas in the threads that are varying sizes (which is how we identify it is linen). On the wrong side of this hankie, a slightly larger slub is visible on the edge of the green center. It is white, the dye did not cover it up. This is perhaps 3/4" of an inch and can not be seen from the right side of the hankie. No damage, this was part of the manufacturing process and the nature of linen.
To see this collection from one estate, search GP, and all will come up!
