I went to an auction last week and found some Beautiful embroidered tablecloths.

Some embroidery is not delicate and pretty and took a lot of time to make. Some is bolder, brighter and not really delicate at all. This is one of those smaller tablecloths!

Design:Beautiful heavy cotton soft white color is 30x32" with a flower bouquet in each corner. This motifs are big, 8x14" in neat shaded colors. Border design is cross stitch. Leaves and petals are a series of long straight embroidered lines.

Fiber: No tags, homemade. I am guessing cotton as it is warm to the touch and has NO slubs under magnification.

Age: I am thinking that this is 1940s or 1950s.

Colors: soft white with embroidery in soft muted red, dark blue, and mint green. Hint of yellow for accent.

Condition: good for its age, 70+ years. No rips, tears or worn spots. No spots or smudging. Since the embroidery stitches are quite long, most at least 3/4", a few look like they have come loose and need either a clip or to have new owner use a needle and put them where they belong. Hard to tell with colors if this has faded a bit, the red is that sort of color, muted red. Or that might be the original color. Doesn't look worn or washed out so I think this color palet was chosen on purpose.

Pretty primitive tablecloth that will look great anywhere you need a bit of color.
