Auction Description

Five Pieces Vintage Linen Doily Doilies 8x10"
with Crochet and Machine made lace edges (mint green, yummy)

Sweet Ladies embroidered on linen doilies plus a flowered doily 5x12" to match
Beautiful set for the bedroom dresser or dressing table

I went to several estate sales in this last week and got some beautiful linens.

Five beautiful doilies, a set of complimentary linen doilies with embroidery. Sweet part is that they are embroidered in rayon threads, nice and shiny, and that four of them are lovely ladies in the 1920s 1930s style. Bobbed hair, holding a rose, full skirts and ballgowns. Each one is a different color combination, but most have a green theme going.

#1: 8x10" blond lady facing right with purple rose, green and pink ballgown in a green frame. White fancy crochet trim.

#2: 8x10" blond lady facing left, purple flower, same dress and trim as above.

#3: 8x10" blond facing right, green and pink dress. Green and white machine made trim (sweet).

#4: blond facing left, same dress. same trim as above.

#5: 5x12" doily, pink and yellow daisies that match lady's daisies. Yellow and white trim, machine made that looks like above. Nice coordinating extra doily.

Lots of detail, each lady is in an embroidered frame of green, trim sets off the portraits beautifully. Each has a huge swirling pink bow on waist of dress, and French knot decoration on her collar.

Fiber: unmarked, cotton threads

Age: Probably 1930s 1940s

Condition: Very good for their age. No rips, tears or smudging, but used, and a few little stitches are coming loose and may need to be secured. One French knot needs work. Rayon embroidery thread tends to be a bit slippery and ends don't stay secured and it seems to fuzz or pill up a bit. But 5 minutes with a needle to secure ends and the work is done.

Pretty little group for decorating a few pretty little places in your home.
