V6 Graphics Board for SGI Octane2, PN 030-1403-003.

VPro V6 Graphics Board for SGI (Silicon Graphics) Octane or Octane2, SGI PN 030-1403-003 Rev A. Removed from a working system, this board is in excellent condition, complete with XIO carrier. Used, fully tested, 30 day return cover.

An Octane must have at least XBow 1.3 to use V6 graphics.

V6 has 32MB total RAM, offering up to 20MB for textures depending on resolution and image depth. A good entry-level board for those who wish to experiment with hardware texture mapping for animation, imaging, modelling, etc. V6 supports the OpenGL ARB imaging extensions, ie. hardware-accelerated 2D imaging operations in imgview, etc. V6 is considerably faster than the older MGRAS graphics options for shaded graphics, so it's ideal for animation modelling. Full benchmarks are on my SGI Tech/Info site (examine the single buffered Inventor results). I'll add a picture of the board later.

AUCTION NOTES:

1. This item is too heavy for small-packet airmail once securely boxed, and using Royal Mail standard parcels is actually more expensive than the rates I have with ParcelForce (costs me 2.40 UKP to go to a post office by bus), so shipping is by courier only, but the cost is actually less than ordinary mail in many cases, especially to central European nations.

2. I'm happy to combine auctions. I have fixed shipping rates for ParcelForce24/48 (UK) or Euro48 (mainland Europe) courier services, so combining auctions is very economical, ie. except for packaging materials and insurance cover, the cost is the same no matter what the weight. An extra charge is only required if the insurance has to be increased beyond 150 UKP (+5 to increase the cover to 500), or if a lot more packaging is required. Thus, for example, the PF48/UK shipping cost for a CPU, PSU, motherboard, Xbow and RAM kit for Octane/Octane2 would still just be 12.50 UKP (or 17.50 if the total value did go over 150 UKP).
