Beautiful hardcover with a dustjacket 1979 book  The Ultimate Baseball Book edited by Daniel Okrent and Harris Lewine with historical text by David Nemec.  Full 350 pages packed with the history of US baseball 1876 to 1979.

Excellent book with gorgeous black and white early photos, and color pictures too.

Wonderful reference book for the ultimate baseball book.  Has history and  beautiful early photographs from 1876 thru 1979 when the book was published.  All the greats are here, Babe Ruth, Ozzie Gallespie, Joe DiMaggio, Joe Jackson, Ty Cobb

Beautiful  soft cover book that is a great reference.  Articles were written by Robert W. Creamer, Jonathan Yardley, Wilfrid Sheed, George V. Higgins, Red Smith, Roy Blount jr,  Tom Wicker, John Leonard, Mordecai Richler with historical text by David Nemec.

This is the original 1979 edition of the book NOT a book club edition.  This has a dustjacket and is in very good  shape for its age.  Dustjacket has a beautiful large black and white photo of Babe Ruth on the back. 

Condition: very good from its age.  Dustjacket has rips, tears, and wear along edges but is all in one piece with no missing sections.  Dustjacket has a gorgeous photos of the Babe on back, suitable for framing.  Book covers are black cloth and have some dirt and smudging along with a 1" tear on top of spine (backside) in the groove of the spine. Holding tight, is not affecting the spine. Looks like the dustjacket was removed so the cover is smudged and dusty.   Gold stamping is clear and still crisp despite the dusty black cloth covers.  Front cover is embossed with gold baseballs, similiar to dustjacket. Slight wear to edges and slight bumping on corners.  Front cover is not perfectly flat, has a very slight warp to it, horzontally about half way down but  no water damage or other damage, but not quite flat. Maybe it was stored improperly?  Pages are clean, white,  crisp,  and  flat.  No writing or damage to the pages.  Colors are still clean and clear.  

For being more than 30 years old, this is in very good shape.  Cover and dustjacket shows dust and wear but the pages are beautiful as are the photos and history packed into this book.
