Found a huge batch of these wonderful advertising cookbooks from long long ago at a recent auction.

This one is 96 pages, published in 1948,written by Ruth Elizabeth MIlls ("Culinary expert"),  and published by the  Frederic Girnau Publishing Company. This was a handout from the A. Gettelman Brewing Company in Milwaukee Wisconsin and contains some ads for the beer.

 Very interesting cookbook with sandwiches from all nations including Poland, Ireland, England, Wales, Sweden, Germany, Russia, Chile, Canal zone, and much much more

Soft covered book with light cardboard covers, and beautiful glossy pages, plus lots of 1940s illustrations of people from different nations too!  Sweet little treat from the 1940s to you.

Handed out compliments of the A. Gettelman Brewing Company in Milwaukee Wisconsin, one of a long series of cookbook with a manly theme, hunting, cooking game etc.  Sort of repeats in this cookbook as there are recipes for smoked reindeer meat, tongue, other game too

Wonderful advertising for the Gettelman Brewing company.  Inside cover has advertisement  the "American housewife is one of the finest purchasing agents in the world.  To her we dedicate this book".  Back cover ad in red/black/white shows bottle "A taste treasure for personal plasure"  "brewed for the taste satisfaction of the most discriminating beer drinker.  Try this tempting tangy taste treasure brewed for your greater personal pleasure".  Inside of back cover as AGBC with Gettelman Brewing Company next to initials and GOOD BEER CONSISTENT next to each initial.  Not the slickest ads in the world but charming for their day.

 Condition:    good for its age. Light paper cover has a fold across one corner, worn corners, and a small tear, 1/2" in lower corner.  Colors still bright.  Wear to spine with a tear to supper 1/4"(shows on back cover, not front).  Pages are slightly discolored with age and have a bit of smudging on first page.  No writing, missing pieces or real damage you would not expect after 62 years of use.  Staples holding strong, cover at spine has not broken thru, colors on cover excellent.

Wonderful little cookbook with more sandwich recipes than you can shake a stick at.  Some positively delicious, some not to our tastes anymore.  Wonderful collector's cookbook.
