Auction Description

Found some fabulous vintage crochet and knitting  books on Sunday at a huge textile auction held in an artist's loft.   Three cases of them so I may be listing these for quite a while.

Beautiful 1960s soft cover booklet  with 27 pages and pullover and cardigans for men and women .  Author is Mary T. Booth and all of these are just so fantastic.  Ski sweater designs that will fit everyone in the family from teens to adults.

The decorative designs are charted patterns that are clear and look easy to follow.

Includes the following sweaters jumpers and charted patterns for these TEN sweaters or jumpers as our UK friends call them:

the blue moose (cool pattern, my dad had one of these in the early 50s)

Morgan horses (pullover w/ horse heads from top to bottom)

cock of the roost (what better cardigan for the man of the house)

flower garden (yoke of flowers)

the weather vane (bird weather vanes and flowers)

winter flowers (dark with flowered yoke)

birds of a feather (light background wide bands of birds and flowers)

holiday (cardi with reindeer etc)

humming bird (cardi with humming bird on yoke)

falling acorns (squirrels galore)

Backgrounds are wonderful on these beautifully designed sweaters or jumpers (to our UK friends)

All appear to use DK worsted weight yarn, wool, using US sizes 3 and 4 needles.  So these are finely knit sweaters.

Designer gives a variety of sizes, looks like the items range from six months to six years old,  and she explains that size is easy to change via her instructions.  All of the sweaters apper to be same basic design, so will be easy to knit a larger size and put on the design of your choice if you have a bit of knitting experience.

Patterns for the sweaters are easy to follow, all are in basic knitting stitches for are fine for beginners and advance knitteer alike.  Charts are clear and not too complicated for most knitters can easily follow the patterns.

Age;  patterns looks very 1950s, but this is not dated (and I never heard of the Nomis Yarn Company).  Advertising in  front cover do show some very 1960s patterns, ponchos and smiley faces so this is from that era.  But I do not discount that author wrote/designed this a few years earlier.

Condition:  very good for its age.  Light scuffing and smudging on covers and wear and folds along spine. Corners have a bit of curl/wear.  No marking inside. Pages are flat and still crisp.

Beautiful  soft cover book that is a great reference.   I got a bargain on these books (bought three big cases of vintage crochet and knitting books) so am passing the savings on to you.  Lots more to come!
