Found this at a recent church rummage sale. Neat hard covered book with dust jacket that is out of print and hard to find today.
Author Ruth Wyeth Spears has 60 color formulas from 5 tubes of paint, 200 tracing designs. Covers Early American, Pennsylvania Dutch, Provincial, Scandinavian, Mexican motifs. How to decorate boxes, chairs, chests, trays, tinware, walls, greeting cards. Details on brush strokes, gold stenciling, antique finishes, reclaiming old furniture.
This is a classic, written just as World War II ended and all the returning GIs married quick and tried to find places to live. My poor parents had to rent a little room to live in as both my grandparents had housefulls already! All started to save for their own little homes, and when they got them, had to find economical ways of decorating them.
Covers all styles, has directions, patterns and all you need to create lots of different looks.
Condition: very very very good for its age. No rips, tears or smudges. No writing or damage. I must have checked this book 5 times trying to find a date when it was reissued, it is in such beautiful shape. But there it is, it was published in 1947, is hardcovered with a beautiful dustjacket, with very little wear and tear. Tiny bit of wear on lower spine, but that is it. No tears to the dust jacket, just in mint condition. Don't know where it has been hiding all these years!!
Beautiful book for decoration painting. If you know an artist or a collector, this would make a super super gift. Absolutely mint condition and printed in 1947. Even the dust jacket is pretty.
