Botanical Name: Cucumis melo.
Stock Reference Number: 107-60.
Description: Introduced to Europe from tropical Africa by the Romans. Produces smooth skin, sweet, green flesh fruit on slow growing vine. Sow Spring ~ Summer after frosts. Sow 5 weeks earlier indoors before planting. Sow 2-2.5cm deep. Space rows 120-150cm apart. Space plants 40-60cm apart. Likes rich, well-drained soil, though not heavily fertilized. Add lime to soil to achive a pH of 6.5. Best to water roots not leaves to prevent mildew. Will cross-pollinate with other rockmelons.
