Found some wonderful books this week at an estate sale. Excellent cookbooks. All in beautiful condition unless noted.
Excellent soft covered book from 1953 with 55 pages, packed with recipes and instructions for using the new fangled applicance, a refridgerator and freezer combo. Up until now the freezer portion was just a small 12x12" metal box in the fridge with a little door. From the booklet you will see that it looks more like what we have today, a top freezer with a separate door and controls.
Post WWII era appliance booklet from Hotpoint Company, on working with your new electric fridge/freezer. This was during a building boom, just a few years after many GIs came back from the war, married, and were building their own homes as there was a severe housing shortage. Many homes you see in your town built late 1940s thru early 1950s were build to accomodate these new families. And then you know what happened, the biggest baby boom in history happened. So up went new schools, shopping centers, and the economy was up and running!
Includes recipes for:
refridgerator rolls
snow pudding
strawberry Bavarian cream
caramel ice creem
cocktail sauce
broiled turkey w/ orange/apple
custard sauce
coffee jelly
frozen fruit cocktail
clover leaf rolls
and much more.
Condition: good condition for its age 60+ years. Cover is smudged with bent corners. Some smudging on pages too. Wear along spine, but no separation. Spine is tight. Colored pictures on covers still look great, as do the colored pictures inside the book.
Nice cookbook from post WWII America. Basic and traditional cookiing at its best (the kind we can't eat anymore because it is bad for us)!!
