This ensemble is protected by a 11"X14" slip cover of crystal clear firm poly-glass that can double as a temporary frame or you may custom frame it. EDGE OF OUTSIDE FRAME IS 1-3/4" X 1-3/8" inches. Both frames together are mounted on exhibition sheet 8 1/2 X 11" inches. LARGE IMAGE IS A BLOWUP OF SMALL FRAMES HOLDING HAIR. Hair is approximately 1/8th to 1/16 of an inch and clearly visible. "FUNK AND WAGNALL'S DICTIONARY" DESCRIBES A RELIC AS "A REMAINING TRACE" OF A REVERED PERSON AND IN THIS CASE A FAMOUS HISTORICAL PERSON. The historic note pictured reads: "September 21,1867. Mrs. Howell gave me this lock of hair today in the presence of Jefferson Davis. It was cut from his head during confignment in Fortress Monroe. Mrs Howell is the mother in law of President Davis.
