Common Name: GUAVA - APPLE.
Botanical Name: Psidium guajava.
Stock Reference Number: 417-15.
Description: Small spreading tree 3-5 metres. Produces round shaped fruit to 10-12cm. Thin rind, pale green to yellow at maturity. Flesh is creamy white and rich in vitamins A, B, and C and also contains calcium which is unusual in fruits. All parts of the fruit are edible. Leaves are used on barbecue meats for flavour and for diarrhea. Also believed to have sugar lowering properties to help diabetics. Sow Spring in tree tubes. Sow 4mm deep. Keep moist. Transplant to desired position late summer to early autumn. Will need to be protected from frosts for first two winters. We use Frost Blanket.
