about the artist--- I have been drawing since age 4, selling my art door to door as a teen. I have done art on everything from signs to a bus for a country western singer, logos and feedbags. My artistic endeavors to develop my art reach include many areas of the art world, from award winning realistic paintings that include pet portraits, western art, landscapes, cats and forays into abstract art. I have done commercial art that ranges from sign painting, murals in churches and rodeo scenes at arenas, business logos, feedbags and a stagecoach on a country/western singer's bus. I don't hold to the old saying of "selling ice to Eskimos". I prefer to let "the images speak for themselves!" Favorite subjects are horses but am proficient in many areas including landscapes, pet portraits, wildlife, commercial art and other things. Art styles range from realistic to abstract and my art resides in homes around the world.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do you charge so little for your original art? I have been asked that question many times by professional artists who see that I am able to paint on the same level at they do. I wish I could charge as much as some equine artists who make their living selling art. And that is one of the answers. I teach art at a middle school and do my art on the side. I do not have to make a living at it. So I can afford to offer my art at lesser prices. And many people cannot afford to buy what many professional artists charge. So I fill a niche. I also live in a town where art is more of a luxury than necessity. Many of them think art from Walmart is fine art. Finally, here on ebid there is the competition. There are so many foreign art sellers offering art for 1 cent, charging $39 S/H for an image (most likely used without permission from the creating artist) painted on paper thin canvas that is not even stretched. Would you buy if I charged more?
Why do you paint in so many styles? I am an artist and I am constantly evolving, changing and developing my art. In teaching art, I also learn new things about art history, famous artists, styles, etc. All these come into play as I do my art. All these factors come into play that affect my creations, be they realistic, folk art, cubist or other genres.
Where do you get your ideas for so many different types of art offerings? If you mean the Callies, the Catnicks and the Cubism with a flair, again it goes back to my teaching art. My students and I get tired of the same approach over and over again as I present the lessons. So I have learned to be versatile in the projects we do to keep them paying attention and one idea leads to another, leads to another, etc.
Do you have a website? Yes I do but ebid does not want websites put in auctions. Email me for the url.
Do you sell off your website? Yes, I do. If you see any thing you like, please contact me to see if it is still available. Then I will put it as an auction on ebid or ebay. Winning bidders get a coupons to use at the website or at ebid.
Your horses are very good. Do you do commissioned portraits? Are they as reasonably priced as your other art? Been doing them for years. I also do cats and dogs and other pet portraits. Check my website or email me for prices, which I think are very reasonable. ($75 ppd. for 12x18 pencil portrait for example)
