EI-160E Echo-Link Interface Controller in Black Enclosure

The EI-160E is a brand new design for linking your computer with any Amateur Radio Transceiver.

    * This device has advanced audio processing (Audio Automatic Level Control) that will allow you to use essentially any Receivers audio source within a range of approximately 150mVpp - 1.5Vpp. (approximately -20dBm -- +14dBm)
    * The input signal will be dynamically amplified to about 0dBm for reliable operation. The audio that comes from the Soundboard is processed in a similar way, however the maximum drive level to the Microphone circuit on the Radio side is max. 750mVpp.
    * The unit is also equipped with a DTMF receiver. Connection to the Host (computer) is done via real RS232 at 2400 Baud.
    * The EI-160 was designed with the many modern Transceiver in mind that offer a 6 Pin mini DIN Accessory connector. Connection will be a snap using an off shelf straight 6 conductor cable with mini DIN connector. Standard 3.5mm audio cable are used to interface with the Computers Soundboard.It is recommended to use the 1200 Baud radio setting since the 9600 Baud would require a level of up to 2Vpp. When used with the Accessory (Packet) connector a degredation in audio quality may be observed.
    * The built in Echo-Link protocol is used to communicate with the Windows Echo-Link Software.
    * There are selectable timeout settings that can be programmed using the EI-160 setup utility among other features like DTMF mute timer disable / enable the TX and more.
    * With a different version of Firmware this unit is compatible with SVXLINK for LINUX. SVXLINK is a Echo-Link and Voice Service system that runs on LINUX using a different protocol. It provides more flexibility to tailor the system operation. A Voice Mail box is also available for the local user or group. Since SVXLINK is open source it is free to anyone, however it is under constant development, so there are no guarantees at what level it is. I am using SVXLINK for several years and am very pleased with its performance and features.
      The EI-160S can also be used as interface if SVXLINK is configured as Repeater. The Software does the controlling and the EI-160 does the switching of the Radio etc.
    * Aside the described uses, it can also be used with most of the many Digital Software modes, like PSK31, CW and many more, for HAM radio.
    * Audio tests have shown that the design is essentially noise free and the ability to fine tune the speech to the internet, is proven to be a great help to match the various types of hardware.The best audio quality was achieved using transceiver from Kenwood. Although, Yaesu or other transceive will work too, the audio quality was not too exciting due to different packet filter circuits. This is not a flaw with the EI-160, it is simply the way the packet signal routing was designed at the radio level.
    * Still, your system can as well be the best sounding Echo-Link node on the block or even further.

      Note: The EI-160 does not include a power supply, RS232 cable, Cable to Radio or cables to Computer Soundboard. Those need be either manufactured by the buyer or purchased separately.

The programming utillity is required to set the basic operating parameter for the EI-160E. This utility is available , free of charge.

The unit has a 30 Day Warranty from the date it is received, against defects due to workmanship. If it does fail wihtin this Warranty period, please contact me, to rectify, repair or exchange the interface.

WARRANTY :

Seller is trying to be as accurate as possible with the item description, although it is possible to overlook something at the time of listing.

All “USED item ” listings are sold “AS IS ”. “NO WARRANTIES ARE EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED! ”

On used items there are in general no funds available to cover the cost of warranty services. The manufactures warranty is usually not transferable to third parties and the listing price has been significantly reduced from retail value. Keep in mind that a used item sale does not reflect any profits. It merely clears some space in the shack.

All “NEW ITEM” listings are declared as "UNUSED" and warranted for a 30 Day period from delivery date against workmanship and component failure.

If the item fails to operate as promised, you can request a refund of the purchase price (Shipping Excluded) or exchange of the item.

If you are unsure about an item or the shown image is not clear, please ask questions before bidding. Usually the seller will respond in timely manner.

RETURNS :

Seller does not have a “return policy ” in place; therefore no returns are accepted unless the item description does not match the item you received at all. In the case of “NO MATCH AT ALL” please return the item within 14 days after you received the item for a purchase refund or item rectification. If it turns out to be the sellers mistake, seller will even refund the shipping charges. This does not apply to signs of use that had been overlooked or is not described.

INTERNATIONAL BIDDING :

“SORRY FOLKS OUTSIDE THE USA ”, the seller will NOT list or allow bids outside the USA . Due to complex Import / Export laws, restriction and regulations it is extremely time consuming to me to ship international. Also, individuals with intent of fraud, would most likely get away with fraud. I am aware that most international bidder do not have the intent of fraud, however to allow those individuals access, it would mean that the less honest individuals would also gain access, outbid others without the intent to ever pay or pay from Malaysia and want the item to be shipped to Africa, after shipment requesting charge backs. Whatever they had in mind?

PAYMENTS :

The high bidder is expected to pay after auction closing. All items sold, will be shipped as soon as payment is confirmed and the shipping address matches the buyer. “The primary method of payment is GOOGLE Checkout”. We will not charge the associated fee. If you wish to pay by other means, please contact the seller before bidding .

If the buyer has not made payment after 5 days and several attempts to cantact the buyer, it is assumed that the buyer never intented to purchase the item. The member ID used, will receive negative feedback as non-payer and the item will be re-listed.

SHIPPING :

Because of legal issues, seller can not ship to an unconfirmed buyers address if PAYPAL was used to pay. Shipping charges are estimated as close to the real cost as possible. Seller does not believe in selling low and charge tremendous shipping and handling fees to make up for it. On most items, there is no handling fee.

Shipping damages must be claimed by the buyer with the carrier, either with or without shipping insurance. Other than proper packing, the seller has no influence during transition and can’t accept damage claims.

Seller will pack the item(s) reasonably safe for shipment.

Default method to ship items is USPS, however Seller is able to ship via UPS by request.

FEEDBACK:

Feedback will be accordingly. The feedback will be based on facts and not emotions. We assume that you know what you are doing . If you have placed a bid, it becomes a binding contract as much to you as it is to us and either party must follow through with it, unless you get struck by financial hardship. In such a case a mutual bid retraction would be reported. In the unlike event that the item has already shipped, the cost of return shipment is the responsibility of the buyer. Financial hardship does NOT mean “Ooops, I spent too much elsewhere, have no money left to pay for my Internet purchase and my paycheck is still 2 weeks away!”
