A fabulous vintage hot water or chocolate jug. Decorated at the base with deep green and gilt ribbing and at the top has a cream glaze with hand painted flowers. There is an embossed mark on the base but unfortunately it has been obscured by the glaze so I don't know the pottery. The metal lid however is marked 'JC & Sons' for John Clarke & Sons, Sheffield, c. 1894 - 1923. In good condition it has crazing but no chips or cracks. A very attractive item. Height at handle 18cms, width 9cms, width at base 7.5cms.
