Auction Description

Common Name: CHIVES - GARLIC or CHINESE or KAU TSOI.
Botanical Name: Allium tuberosum syn. A odoratumi.
Stock Reference Number: 137.
Description: Probably the most delicate member of the onion family with a mild garlic flavour. Used to flavour salads, soups, vegetable and cheese dishes and in omelettes. Easy to grow in the garden, pots or window boxes. Annual to 25cm. Sow Spring - Summer - Autumn in cold and moderate climates and Autumn - Winter - Spring in tropical locations. Sow 12mm deep in clumps of 3-4 seeds and thin to strongest plant. Space 15cm between clumps. Harvest leaves close to the ground before flowers start to form. Keep well-watered during heat of summer. Put a pot of chives inside for winter use.
