This listing is for the sale of the used rear left door for a 1930s Austin Ten shown in the photo.

The construction is metal around a wood frame. The wooden frame would have been covered originally on the interior with leather trim.

The condition status is as follows:

• There are no dents in the metal.
• There is quite a lot of rust on the door. Some of this is minor superficial rust where there has been interaction between moisture in the air and metal which has been exposed to it through scratches in the paintwork. This is not serious. The rest of the rust is where the superficial rust has started to become more progressed and has started to eat into the surface of the metal. This secondary type of rust is mostly not very progressed and has not developed into holes or into rot. It is more progressed along the top of the door. It does not affect the flat surface of the door. The purchaser should assume that it will be necessary to get the door sanded down in the areas of rust and to treat the rust with rust proofer to prevent any further advance. 
• The wooden frame has suffered from woodworm. There are holes in the wood of the type created by the larvae responsible for woodworm. If any of the wooden frame is kept, the purchaser will need to treat with woodworm prevention fluid.
• The wooden frame is not 100% complete. It is fragile in a few places and easy to break away. The purchaser should assume that there will be a need to replace some of the wood frame. Whilst the majority of the wood frame is reasonably sound, time and funds permitting it would probably be best to try to replace all the wood frame.   
• Although the door comes with some interior lining, this is not complete. What lining there is left on the door is very fragile and falling apart. This door does not come with any door furniture such as window winder, door handle, hinges, etc..
• The door comes with glass. I have not tried to clean the glass so it is quite dirty.  

Overall this door is one in which the metalwork needs some attention, particularly along the top of the door, but is basically reasonably sound for its age and free of rot, and in which the wooden frame needs some partial replacement. Despite this door not being in pristine condition, it would still be good for a restoration project 

Postage to UK addresses will be £15.86 by Royal Mail standard parcel services. Buyer may collect to save the postage cost. I am in West London near Heathrow.

It might be possible for me to get this item to you by delivery company for less money than the Royal Mail if it can be delivered to a UK mainland address excluding Scottish Highlands, Northern Ireland, offshore islands, where there will be somebody on site during the week (Monday to Friday only, Saturday delivery not possible) to sign for delivery. Please enquire for details before buying.

This item can be sent overseas by taking it to a freight delivery company at Heathrow Airport and getting them to arrange delivery. It will be necessary for them to build a small crate around the door so that it can be shipped. If you might be interested in having this item shipped to you overseas, please contact me well before you buy. I will then give you the contact details of a freight company at Heathrow so that you can discuss shipping with them. If you then purchase the door, it will be necessary for you to arrange your shipping direct with the freight company. I am based at Heathrow and will deliver the bumper to the freight company free of charge.

Although I try to provide a friendly and efficient service, I have also to comply with the legislation governing on-line trading. The following are the general terms and conditions relating to all my online fixed price and auctions trading. They apply as appropriate to this particular listing. Please do not be put off by the length of these terms and conditions. They are designed to help you know what your rights and responsibilities are in this transaction.

My eBid Shop is operated as a commercial business. From time to time I might also list items which I had not bought originally for resale.

My eBid listings are offers to sell. Purchasers will be deemed to have accepted the offer to sell and to have entered into a legally binding contract which will be effective from my e-mail confirmation that payment has been accepted from the buyer and that the purchase(s) is(are) about to be despatched. The contract will be deemed to be made under English law which will apply in the case of dispute. These terms and conditions are part of the contract.

Please ensure that payment for your purchase is received by myself within 14 calendar days of purchase date. If payment has not been received by then, I reserve the right to cancel the transaction and to relist on eBid or to sell elsewhere.

Payment is accepted from UK purchasers by cash on collection, postal order, cheque, banker’s draft, Nochex, Google Checkout and PayPal.  

Payment is accepted from overseas purchasers only by Google Checkout and PayPal. I do not accept banker’s drafts from overseas purchasers and do not give out my bank account details for wired funds transfer from overseas.

It is a condition of sale that purchasers agree to reimburse me for any bank costs incurred in connection with returned cheques.

Delivery within the UK will normally be by second class post or by parcel post unless specified otherwise and will take up to 5 days generally to reach purchasers after despatch. Goods paid for by cheque will be despatched after 10 days has been allowed for the cheque to pass through the banking system. If purchasers wish for alternative methods of delivery including faster delivery, please contact me to discuss before buying.

Delivery outside of the UK will be by normal postal services where possible. It might be necessary for larger or heavier items to be shipped by other methods including courier which will be expensive. Overseas purchasers should contact me for estimates of postage or delivery costs before bidding. Although the eBid system shows overseas postage at zero, there will be a charge to send overseas.

Purchasers from outside of the United Kingdom are solely responsible for paying any taxes due on their purchase such as sales tax and import tax.

No guarantee is given as to the likely serviceable life of used car parts and the purchaser makes an acceptance to purchase a used car part on the basis that its remaining service life will be less than for a new part and could be limited.

Cancellation before despatch

·        The buyer may cancel the purchase before it has been despatched by sending me an e-mail or by telephoning. A refund of any payment received will be made as soon as possible. Purchaser payments made by Nochex, Google Checkout or PayPal will be refunded back to the originating Nochex, Google Checkout or PayPal account.

Returns and refunds for mail order purchases:

·     If I have incorrectly described goods or have supplied goods which are not fit for purpose due to their physical condition, or if a part fails almost immediately upon fitting, the purchaser should contact me as soon as possible explaining the problem. I will try to resolve the situation. If this is not possible, I will ask the purchaser to return the item to me. A refund of the sale price and the cost of postage both ways will be arranged. I will make the refund as soon as possible and no later than 30 days after the initial purchaser contact. Purchaser payments made by Nochex, Google Checkout or PayPal will be refunded back to the originating Nochex, Google Checkout or PayPal account. Purchasers should make contact with me within 14 calendar days of receipt of the purchase, after which I reserve the right to decline to accept returns and to make refunds.

·     If the purchaser changes his/her mind about the purchase for any reason other than incorrectly described goods or goods which are not fit for purpose, the purchaser should contact me as soon as possible about this. I will ask the purchaser to return the item to me. A refund of the sale price and the cost of postage to send to the purchaser will be arranged. I will make the refund as soon as possible and no later than 30 days after the initial purchaser contact. The purchaser will have to bear the cost of posting back to me.  A refund will not be given if the part has been fitted to your car and used. Purchaser payments made by Nochex, Google Checkout or PayPal will be refunded back to the originating Nochex, Google Checkout or PayPal account. Purchasers should make contact with me within 14 calendar days of receipt of the purchase, after which I reserve the right to decline to accept returns and to make refunds.

Return instructions:

·      It is a term of the contract that all goods subject to refunds will need to be returned to me by purchasers. In all cases, purchasers should keep items safely on their own premises and await my instructions before returning to me. Goods should not be returned until I have given an instruction to do so. Please retain the original manufacturer’s packing to return goods in. 

When fitting a car part supplied by me, it is the sole responsibility of the purchaser to decide whether it is safe to fit the part. In particular, any part purchased from me should be checked for match of physical dimensions, external appearance and part number to the part being replaced on your car. Sometimes, the part that is being replaced on an old car will not be the same as the manufacturer’s original specification and there will have been some modification against the original specification for your car. A replacement part purchased from myself with the correct original specification might now not be appropriate to fit. Please remember that a faulty car can kill. Do not take any risk with replacement parts. Seek professional advice as appropriate when replacing parts.

I will retain your personal details (name and address, details of purchase) for 90 days after the date of purchase (close of the eBid listing) in case there are any issues arising from the purchase. I will then delete the personal details in compliance with Data Protection legislation. By entering into contract to purchase from me, the purchaser accepts that I may hold his/her personal details for up to 90 days.
